A large part of loving one another is to pray for one another. “With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints” (Eph 6:18). This morning I am asking prayers for my sister-in-Christ Susan and her son Nathan, who is in his 30’s. They are both children of God.

Nathan is having surgery around noon today. He was brought into the ER last night because of a bad septic infection in the leg he had to have partially amputated last year. Susan was told that if she hadn’t brought him in when she did, he would have died. Thank the Lord for intervening and getting him to medical care!

Susan is scared, and I suspect that Nathan is also afraid along with intense pain. But we know that fear is from the enemy, and the enemy is a liar. “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Rom 8:15-16)

Beyond his physical ailments, Nathan isn’t in the Word now. Please pray with me that the Lord will use this incident to bring Nathan back into the fold. I’m using a prayer from Sylvia Gunter’s prayer book “For the Family”. Please join me in this prayer, because “where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matt 18:20); and because “the effective, fervent pray of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

Father, we come boldly to Your throne of grace, and find mercy and grace to help in time of need. Grant Nathan release from bondage to strongholds of the enemy. We plead the blood of Jesus to cancel all commands of the powers of darkness in Nathan’s life. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. His blood defeated the god of this age. In Jesus’ name, take back all ground Nathan gave the enemy. Draw Nathan out of bondage and deception.

We have the heavenly intercession of the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Father, focus the intercession of the Spirit on Nathan. Answer these prayers according to Your perfect will. Lord Jesus, our Intercessor, apply all Your mighty work against the enemy. Bring all the power of the incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension against the assignments seeking to destroy Nathan. Most High God, contend with those who contend with Nathan. Rebuke the enemy in all his operations. Dispatch mighty warrior angels to do battle on Nathan’s behalf.

Send Your light and Your truth and lead Nathan. Remove all spiritual blindness, deafness, and hardness of heart. Grant Nathan eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that seeks You. I plead Your mercy and grace over all Nathan’s personal sin, failure, and family iniquities. Break through and heal Nathan’s wounded spirit. Bind a hedge of thorns around Nathan that will repel all the works of darkness in Nathan’s life.

This battle is not against flesh and blood, and we have spiritual weapons that set captives free. By Your Holy Spirit, break every yoke of bondage in Nathan’s life. Grant Nathan conviction of sin with godly sorry to repentance and deliverance from captivity. Set Nathan completely free. It is written, you shall know the truth and the Truth shall set you free. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. Thank You for Your mighty work by the blood of Christ Jesus. Thank You for granting me the grace, power, persistence, and love in intercession with faith for Nathan until You are glorified in his life. In the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen!
