I’m over 60 now and find myself drawn to the next new products that will lift my eyes and face, blur large pores, lower cholesterol, and help me to lose weight so I’ll feel better about myself. And every product states in some manner or other that I will be satisfied with the results. I’m seldom truly satisfied with their claims.

Yesterday we asked the question, “What Do You Seek In the Wilderness?“, and began our pondering with the first verse of Psalm 63. “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water”.

Unlike every other thing we can seek on this earth that seldom delivers on the promises made, our Lord brings true satisfaction when we truly seek Him. “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.” (Ps 63:5)

The “marrow and fatness” is the richest food, the best that anyone can put out for their guests. Our Lord sets a bountiful table IF we seek Him and thirst for the living water only He can provide. The Enduring Word says, “David spoke of a satisfaction that too few people know, even among believers. He spoke of the deep satisfaction that comes in a surrendered seeking of God, of receiving His great love, of praising God without reservation”.

We can only truly be satisfied in surrendering our will to the Lord’s will for us. That’s where we can find true joy! Charles Spurgeon said, “There is in the love of God a richness, a sumptuousness, a fullness of soul-filling joy, comparable to the richest food with which the body can be nourished.”

I am thankful that the One True God wants to fill me with a joy that can’t be bought on Amazon, but is only available because His Son, Christ Jesus, already paid my ransom. My part after believing, is to submit to His will and His work within me.
