The majority of the post that follows I published in February 2016. On Friday I finished writing a series on the wrath of God, and about the evils of men in the last days, which we are living in. That’s not to say that Jesus will return tomorrow, although He will come like a thief in the night (Rev 16:15) when we do not expect Him. The last days referred to in 2 Timothy is the period of time between when Christ arose from death and was seated at the right hand of the Father in heavenly places, until He returns again. The series in order if you are interested is: The Reality of God’s Wrath; Turn Away From Self Idolatry; Turn Away From Disobedience; Turn Away From Defiance; and Turn Away From Religious Pretensions

The main point in the series is that the Lord has provided us with evidence so that we can receive His truth by faith if we don’t close our minds; but if we close our minds He will give us over to our own reprobate minds. He has shown us the narrow road so that we will be able to spend eternity with Him; He has provided His Word to show us how He expects His people to live as a beacon to bring others into His Kingdom. We are to love one another, forgive one another, and pray for one another, including our leaders so that we may live in peace. Yesterday I chose to join with thousands across the nation in a day of prayer and fasting for our nation.

Dear Lord, We thank You that “Your thoughts are not our thoughts and neither are Your ways our ways”. Lord, we have willfully and pridefully tried to run our own lives and our country without first asking what we should do to glorify You. We are a proud and complacent people, who have lost sight of the importance of seeking You first. Forgive us, Lord, for blindly following the devil’s agenda, just a little at a time so that we didn’t even recognize that we had turned from You. Lord, we seek Your forgiveness for believing we know what we should do. Lord, You are clear that what we are to do, is to humbly seek You first. Lord, forgive us for our pride, which culminates in following our own way, and puffs us up into righteous self-indignation. Lord, this isn’t how You taught us to love.

matt-12-25Lord, Your Word says, “if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.” Our country is becoming more and more polarized. Forgive us, Lord for turning away from Your Word where You exhort us, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that there be no divisions among us, but that we be made complete in the same mind and in Your judgment. Lord, Your Word tells us to

You have promised “For where two or three gather in My name, You are with us.” We beseech you to convict each of our hearts to humble ourselves before You, and ask that You remove the pride in our hearts and turn our eyes, hearts and thoughts back to You. Lord, give us the eyes to see, the ears to hear and the words to speak that glorify You.

Sovereign Lord, You are always in charge. Even in the evil Babylon where Daniel faced an egocentric tyrant, he was able to stay faithful to You. Daniel knew that despite the circumstances, You are sovereign and were working out Your plans for the people and nations. Fill us, Lord, with the same faith and humbleness characterized in your servant, Daniel, and the wisdom to trust that You continue to work out Your plans.

We place our faith and trust in You and You alone. We cast out fear, we ask You to bind the enemy in Jesus’ Name. We seek Your face and we turn away from our sins; we are not afraid. Lord, You have said and proven that You will show Your wrath to those who defile Your name, but will hear from those who repent and call out to You humbly. For You have said, “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.” (2 Chron 7:13-15)

And Lord, we know if we don’t repent and humble ourselves before You, You do not promise to hear our prayers. We claim Your solemn promise, Lord. May Your Holy Spirit help us to fill our hearts with Your love and our love for You so that we are able in Your power to meet the conditions that you require. Lord, we have seen You allow Your wrath to befall our land that is soaked with the blood of many of Your precious babies. Lord as a nation we have looked out for our own personal interest within our country, centering our thoughts on what we want. We have prayed to You for blessings and monetary prosperity, without repenting of our own sinful abominations or those of our country, state, cities and neighborhoods. Lord we have ignorantly ignored Your Word that tells us to “do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves” (Phil 2:3).

Lord, we ask that You convict all of Your people in this land to humble ourselves to You and Your will, to repent from our friendship with worldliness which is enmity with You, so that You may fill our hearts into overflowing with love for You and for one another as Jesus loved us. Lord, we ask that all of our fellow Christ followers in elected offices be led to also seek You first. Lord, we pray a hedge of protection around them, and ask the Holy Spirit to fill them (and all of us) with the faith and humbleness of Daniel to glorify You as You work out Your plans for our nation. We thank You for providing a hedge of protection for the men and women who have and continue to put their lives on the line for our freedoms granted by You. And Lord we also pray for those who You have placed in authority, Christ followers or not, as You have instructed us so that we may live tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.

“Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.” (Dan 2:20-22) In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
