This morning I was reminded again that the Lord looks at our hearts, not our words (1 Sam 16:7). That thought took me to studying the following passage:

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.” (Prov 4:23-27)

What the world sees when they see me, is what flows from my heart. If I don’t take the time to focus FIRST on the Lord and keeping His statues foremost in my thoughts, then the world will see worldiness from my speech and actions, just as the Lord does.

Lord, thank You for the reminder this morning that I must be diligent in coming to You first so that I am able to keep my heart with all diligence. For Lord, as You have said, without You, I can do nothing. I ask that You keep this reminder in my heart and mind all day as I go through whatever this day has for me. May Your presence be seen in me. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
