We’ve all been in the place where things look hopeless, and we don’t feel any light within us. While feelings are valid, we can’t let them rule our lives. What should rule our lives is God’s truth. The first truth is that we are no longer slaves to worldliness. “Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law again.” (Gal 5:1 CEV) We aren’t again to allow the traps of the world to enslave us again, including our feelings. The truth is that we are free!

The second truth to understand is that the Lord is without limit; He can’t be placed in a box so that we can understand Him. He reveals Himself to us when we are ready to understand. What can our Lord do? Anything abundantly beyond what we can see, think or feel. “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph 3:20-21) He is able because it is His power and His will.

It’s not in our scheming and planning that we are able to change our situation. It is in our submission to His will that our lives are able to take a turn towards what He wants in our lives. The most fulfilled we can be comes through our submission and His grace! “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” (2 Cor 12:9)

Lord, thank You for the reminder that You have already set me free from all chains, even my feelings, if I submit my life and will to Yours, ask for Your guidance, and await Your reply. I am so thankful that Your grace is sufficient for me, and when I lay down my perceived “power”, You are able to do far more abundantly all that I can ask or think, according to Your power working within me. May my words and actions today reflect Your glory, since I know I am weak, but You are strong. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
