After failing miserably the other day in setting my discernment on God’s wisdom first, I renew myself with His Word; and His Word confirms this for me. “The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.” (Prov 17:24) We are blessed to have God’s Word to to direct and assist us; it is before us as a rule to walk by; the mark for which we are to aim. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Ps 119:105)
To look anywhere else for wisdom is foolish, because it’s the enemy’s wisdom. “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” (1 Jn 2:16) Where we choose to look for wisdom will define whether or not we are spiritually healthy. “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.” (Matt 6:22)
Today, I turn my eyes upon Jesus, and look full in His wonderful face, knowing that the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace! Thank You for Your Word, Lord, that lights my path. Thank You for the reminder that I am Your child and I am to walk as a child of light (Eph 5:8). “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 Jn 1:7)
