This morning for some inexplicable reason, I woke up at 3 am and could not go back to sleep. As I was wondering how I was going to have the energy to get through the day, I thought about a passage from Isaiah. A light bulb clicked “on” as I realized that the Lord wants me to gather my strength from Him, not just today but every day.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Is. 40:28-31)

When I don’t realize that He is my strength in every situation and moment, I am in danger of becoming self-sufficient, like the Laodiceans (Rev 3:14-22). Thank you, Lord for the reminder that my hope and strength are in you alone. May you continue to remind me so that I don’t lose the holy zeal you have used to bless me. Keep the reminders coming to keep my fire burning for You, so that you don’t want to spit me out!
