I remember singing the words to a hymn, “On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand, All Other Ground Is Sinking Sand” in church. I’ve been thinking about that as we’ve been discussing being rooted and grounded in Christ and His Word. This morning I was brought to the following passage:
As I’ve said previously, I believe that a shaking is coming, and we must make certain that we are firmly planted on the solid rock of Christ Jesus. In order to do that, we must keep our eyes on Him: “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” (Ps. 16:8)
Whatever trials and shaking that comes, when we have our feet planted solidly on The Rock, we will be able to stand. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Eph. 6:10-13)
I’ve been listening a lot to the song by I Am They “My Feet Are On The Rock”. And I want to share some of it with you to encourage you: I can see the clouds roll in; I can feel the wind; as they try to shake me I will not be moved. My feet are on the rock. I can feel the waters rise; I can hear the howling lies that haunt me. Fear won’t hold me now. My feet are on the rock. When I feel my hope about to break, I will cling to Your unchanging grace. Let the waters come and the earth give way, I’ll be dancing in the rain! My feet are on the rock.
