This morning 17 years ago on my drive to work I heard about the attack on the first World Trade Center. As I was thinking about it this morning, the Lord reminded me that both personally and nationally we have mocked Him and turned our attention to other things as more important.

Today, I ask that you join me in corporately praying that our nation would turn back to Him, the One who is in control. For He has promised: if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face [His will] and turn from their wicked ways [repent], then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14)

Dear Lord, thank you for your generous gift of this day that we have to turn from all that we put before you that mocks you. Lord as a nation we have stood by and allowed doctors to murder Your children. We have accepted depravity in our entertainment. And we have remained silent and thus condoned sin. We have forgotten that You are the provider of all that we have.

Lord, I turn away from all that grieves You. I seek Your will for my life. I ask that you allow me to be Your hands and feet, and that Your light shines through me. Lord, allow Your light that shines through me to be a beacon, so that others will ask about the reason for the hope that I have–which is only my faith in what Your Son, Jesus, did for all of us on the cross and the grace You have so generously given. And Lord I ask that You give me the words to say when the questions come so that I am prepared to respond with Your saving Word. In Jesus’s precious name, amen.
