While driving into work this morning, I was listening to “You Say” by Lauren Daigle. I was reminded that the world gives us many different messages, most of which will either tear us down or have us look to ourselves for our own power (pride). I’m sure you can relate to these lyrics; I know that I do.

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me I believe

The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity

If you find yourself doubting that you are enough, it’s time to stop and remember who lives in you: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Gal 2:20)

His truth is the only truth: “This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him. And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.” (1 John 3:19-24)

Today if you are fighting those voices in your head, keep in mind another line in the song: “Taking all I have and now I’m laying it at Your feet You have every failure God, and You’ll have every victory”. We are His and He invites each of us to rest our burdens upon Him (Matt. 11:28). Our lives are not about us, but about Him and His glory. Because we are His, He supplies all the strength we need to walk the path He has for each of us. Stop listening to what the world says; listen to what He says about you, and who you are in Christ.

We have His purpose (see God Promises Good Will Come Out of Our Storms); We have His prayers (see Do You Have the Full Measure of Christ’s Joy In You?); We have His presence (see We Have Comfort In The Lord’s Presence); We have His peace (see The Peace Christ Gives Us); and We have His power (see We Have The Power Of Christ). Whatever the world has to say about us doesn’t matter.

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me I believe
