I know a lot of people who are hurting right now. The Lord invites us to unburden ourselves to Him. “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” (Is. 55:22) Because He loves us and cares for us. “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (Is. 54:10) For, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Ps. 46:1) And, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Ps. 34:18)

God is faithful; He is always with us. He never promises that we won’t have trouble, in fact, He promises us that we will have trouble. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). And He promises us that He is always with us: “But now, this is what the Lord says—He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior’” (Isaiah 43:1-3a).

“Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man! And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy!” (Psalm 107:21-22) “The key to thankfulness is not to view God through the lens of our circumstances, but to view our circumstances through the lens of God’s love and sovereign purpose.” (Anne Graham Lotz) No matter what we are going through, we need to thank Him because He is faithful, because He loves us, and because of our faith in Jesus Christ, we can talk with the Lord anytime and anywhere. “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:4-7)
