It’s been a while since I have posted. There are many excuses with which I could truly tell you have kept me from it, but in all honesty, I believe I’ve been allowing the devil a “win”. I have entered a season of withdrawing – out of grief, depression and pain – and have chosen numbness over my daily time spent with our Lord God. The devil (who is a liar) has told me that I deserved to disengage, and I took “a bite out of the apple”. I’m grieving – I’ve earned binging on Scandal and playing countless hours of Candy Crush. Although I didn’t have Daniel interpret a dream for me as King Nebuchadnezzar did, I have received revelation from our Lord. “The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.” (Daniel 4:26) And how do we acknowledge that Heaven rules? “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Our Lord will gently nudge us. If we ignore the nudge, we could receive a more painful reminder. Thankfully, I listened before I had to be hit with a 2×4. I honestly don’t know how many people read the posts I put out. Our Lord told me to put out the information. What happens to it after that is completely in His hands and under His control. I’ve been disobedient, instead listening to the devil tell me what I “deserve”. The liar-in-chief is deceitful. “There is no one righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10) I am only righteous because Jesus Christ shed His blood for me, and I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior.
“In every area of our lives, we must recognize that the authority under which we operate goes far beyond any human authority. God operates His Kingdom by His Word. The Bible is the divine blueprint by which all of life is to be lived. It is the benchmark by which all decisions should be made. If we are going to advance God’s kingdom, we must recognize and submit to the divine authority of His Word. What was the first thing Satan got Adam and Eve to do in the garden? He got them to question the authority of God’s Word.” (Dr. Tony Evans) In order to submit to the Word of God, I must make Him a priority in my life: I need to spend time with Him in prayer and meditating on His Word.
During the last few days, I’ve received a lot of “signs” that I needed to realign myself under God’s authority. And then I was led to begin a new series “Spiritual Warfare” from The Alternative Radio program by Tony Evans on my phone app. The first installment is The Nature of the Battle, Part 1. I encourage you to listen. The majority of our struggles aren’t only happening on earth in our lives, there’s a direct correlation to a battle that has been waging long before God made the heavens and the earth.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:10-12)
